HOW TO KEEP MOTIVATED DURING WINTER
It’s cold. It’s wet. It’s dark. It’s gloomy. You turn the alarm off and stay in bed.
Sound familiar?
Do this once, twice, and quickly your training starts to drop off. The extra insulation starts to accumulate, albeit in all the unwanted areas.
Personal Trainers love this because it generates business for them. At the end of winter and during spring, an abundance of new clients want to get in shape for the warmer months and there’s a mad rush to transform body’s everywhere.
I’m not biting the hand that feeds me.
The earlier you engage with these services the less likely you are to lower your training levels in the cooler months. Engaging a coach or a personal trainer will help to motivate you through the cooler months. It will also provide a more realistic timeframe to work with, so you can achieve your goals. If you can stay motivated during this period, you can keep kicking goals right throughout the year.
If you’re like me and struggle to do your cardiovascular training indoors due to the monotonous feel of it, here are two simple things I think about to keep my motivation levels high during winter:
Try to change your thoughts. It’s the glass half empty versus the glass half full approach.
I know time is a factor when you work and the days are shorter due to poor light, however 2XU have come up with a solution to that. Their new Reflect products provide compression support with high reflectivity to keep you visible from all angles and safe in low light during the darker months. Reflect is a great way to be more visible from all directions, so add them to your training attire.
Lastly, remember you can still be healthy by eating warm hearty meals. Throw in plenty of vegetables to keep those annoying colds at bay and boost your immune system, which in turn enables you to keep training. Remember to reach out if you need some specialist information and support about your training and nutrition needs.
