The Ambassador Experience

With the finish line almost in sight for our 2022 Ambassador Search, we caught up with some of our current ambassadors. We asked Triathlete George Goodwin, Ultra Runner Luke Tyburski and Heptathlete Ellen Barber about their experiences as a brand ambassador and their plans for the year ahead. Read on to find out who's up first in the hot seat.

Luke Tyburski

Hi Luke, please can you introduce yourself and your sport?

G'day, I'm Luke Tyburski. I'm an Ultra Runner and Ultra Endurance Triathlete.

What does 2XU mean to you?

To me, 2XU is a community of like-minded people who are willing to put themselves out there with curiosity to see what they’re truly capable of.

What is your goal for 2022?

My goal for 2022 is to complete an ultra-endurance cycling and running challenge that no one has ever done before. It’s top secret right now but 2XU is going to help me every single day in my training needs: the clothes I’ll be wearing as I'm running, and also as I’m recovering. It’s the little things we do every single day to help us accomplish our training goals, building up to helping us accomplish our race goals, or for me my big ultra endurance challenges.

As an ambassador for 2XU, how do you use your platform to promote the benefits of physical activity to make the world a fitter, healthier place?

As a 2XU ambassador, it feels very important to share my journey with others online as well as my knowledge as a running and endurance coach. I like to share my tips and some science backways that will help us all be our best athletic selves.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to anyone thinking of becoming a 2xu ambassador?

My one piece of advice if you’re looking to become a 2XU ambassador would be to go for it! If you want to be a part of a community where you have the opportunity to be pushed to your limits and be supported by some amazing individuals and athletes, and groups of people from around the world, then applying to be a 2XU ambassador is something you should be doing right now.

Ellen Barber

Hey Ellen, first off please can you introduce yourself and your sport?

Hi I’m Ellen Barber and I’m a GB Heptathlete – a Heptathlon is 7 events comprising of hurdles, high jump, shotput, 200m, long jump, javelin and 800m across two days.

What does 2XU mean to you?

For me, 2XU is a community brand which captivates people’s lives and inspires a fitter, healthier world. Every garment is engineered to fulfil a desired dream or goal and to help you reach your potential. The 2XU technology helps to improve your preparation, whether you’re at an elite or hobbyist level. It aids the performance side of things in terms of recovery strategy, muscle preparation and repair, and really promotes a health and wellbeing lifestyle. The brand helps myself and others to seek a drive and create goals in our lives to strive and get better

What is your goal for 2022?

My goals for 2022 are to compete in the home Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. For me this is a huge stepping stone in my career and would be such an amazing opportunity to perform in front of a home crowd. I love competing in front of a crowd, but a home crowd? Even more so. I would also love to compete in the European Championships – this would be another incredible opportunity in terms of the quality of performance and competition. At the moment, the sky isn’t even my limit so I’m getting out there, performing as best as I can and seeing where my body can take me.

How has 2XU helped you achieve your goals?

The compression technology. As a heptathlete I’m training for at least 5 hours a day – the graduated technology helps me prepare not only for training, but also helps me recover during my sessions by helping with blood circulation, getting oxygen to the muscles when I’m not even noticing it during a session. This means I can make the subsequent sessions tougher because I’m not as energy-depleted.

As an ambassador for 2XU, how do you use your platform to promote the benefits of physical activity to make the world a fitter, healthier place?

With my platform I really hope to inspire the next generation coming through. I want them to realise that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and to encourage anyone to give anything a go. I really hope to encourage and inspire everyone who comes across my page and I hope that by seeing me compete to the best of my ability it helps them to go out and set a new goal for the day, month or year to make their lives better and healthier. That’s my ultimate goal.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to anyone thinking of becoming a 2XU ambassador?

It’s such an amazing company to work with. The community is really tight and they’ll help to provide you with anything at any time. The ethos behind the design is really inspiring, and as an athlete I really feel like the company is creating clothing to help me rather than just providing me with clothing to go out in every day – it’s actually helping my body to perform better and get better. So if you genuinely love the clothing (like I do!) this is the perfect team to partner up with.

George Goodwin

Hi George, first things first can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your sport?

Hi I’m George Goodwin, I’m a professional Triathlete specialising in Half Iron Man distance.

What does 2xu mean to you?

To me, 2XU is all about performance and allowing me to compete at my best.

What are your goals for 2022?

My goals for 2022 are to stay fit and healthy in order to try and defend my European 70.3 title.

How do you think 2XU help you achieve these goals?

By allowing me to train better and recover faster from my training sessions, which will hopefully make me faster in 2022!

As an ambassador for 2XU, how do you use your platform to promote the benefits of physical activity to make the world a fitter, healthier place?

As a professional athlete, training and exercising is my lifestyle. I try and add inspiring content to my social media channels that people can see, in the hope that it will help them do more exercise and keep fit.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to anyone thinking of becoming a 2xu ambassador?

If you’re applying to be a 2XU ambassador, first and foremost, be yourself. Demonstrate why you love exercise and what it is that you're passionate about.
